The iconic BBC programme, Top of the Pops, was axed by the corporation in 2006, after audience figures continued to fall, but bowing to public pressure the BBC commissioned the show for two exclusive episodes over Christmas, with both proving to be festive ratings winners. Now a campaign to bring "Top Of The Pops" back to British TV screens has been launched, according to reports.
Music industry figure Dylan White is now said to have kicked-off the initiative, which follows a similar recent idea from "X-Factor" mogul Simon Cowell. His new proposal would see the show in an early evening time slot, before the "Six O'Clock News", and appeal to a younger demographic.
"The content of the programme would be driven by (Top Of The Pops) magazine and the Top 40, so would heavily feature the likes of 'High School Musical', Rihanna, Sugababes, Katy Perry and, yes, some 'X Factor' stars", explained White.

I would welcome its return, but it is a pity that it will be full of Cowell-ites. It will not rejuvinate the music industry, but as long as people can see the music, Im all for it.
